Introduction- Day 1- January 9th, 2017

Today is day one of my Study Abroad. Granted I’m technically on a plane still, but I figured this is a good time for an introduction/first post. Of course I am Will, and I’m participating in Boston University’s engineering study abroad program in Grenoble, France.

Here’s what I know about my upcoming semester:

1. I’m in Grenoble from January 10th to May 27th.
2. I’m living with a host family and one other American student.
3. I will be attending the Universite Grenoble de Alpe taking 20 credits worth of Engineering classes and French language and culture.
4. I don’t know how to speak French.

With that being said, I know pretty much nothing about France or what to expect from this trip. I don’t where I live, how I’ll get to class, what I’m doing for meals, or really anything about the city of Grenoble. I am planning to go with the flow and figure out everything one day at a time.

That being said, I do have a few goals for this trip.

Here are my goals in no particular order:

Learn French
Purchase and use sonicare toothbrush
Don’t puke from drinking
Go snowboarding in the alps
Get a high GPA
Visit Sicily/Italy
Continuously lift
Fall in love with a French women/ get my heart broken by a French women
New foreign friends
Visit at least 5 countries

Hopefully I can hit all of these, but I guess you’ll have to wait until the last blog post to find out for sure. (Stay Tuned)

Also while it’s not listed, another goal is to write a narrative-style blog post everyday. My cousin Vincent’s blog from circa 2007 in London served as a great inspiration. I hope that one day I can look back at these posts and fondly recollect my time in France and Europe. Additionally, any friends or family that want to know what I am up to can just read this blog. I cannot say for certain what I’ll do or write about in the upcoming months.

For now, I’m just a foreign tourist with no grasp of the local language.
