Tacos and Stand Up Showers-Day 16-January 24th, 2018

One class Wednesdays are quickly becoming a favorite of mine. After a late night at the bar, I slept in with no regrets. Only having a single class at 1:30 is nice because for once, I could sip my coffee slowly, instead of rushing to catch the bus.  I took a shower this morning, figuring I could shower again at the gym later. In case you forgot, I’m really only supposed to take a single shower a day according to the house rules. Though the more I think about these rules, it seems like they make them overly strict in the case that the exchange student is unruly and rebellious. I am neither of these (or so I think), so I feel like I can eventually bend some of the rules. We will see for sure though.

After a shower, breakfast, and some leisure time, I headed out to seize the day. I only had an hour and a half of French to get through, which wouldn’t be so bad as I enjoyed the class and professor. The class feels extremely useful as everything I learn can immediately be put into practice in my daily life.

On the way to school, the tram was not crowded for once, and I was in a particularly good mood. When I got to class, Harry and I reminisced about the night before and were interrogated by our classmates about which bars we should new bars we discovered.

French class went by normally, and I left having a better grasp of the local language as usual. After class, our Professor took us downtown to purchase the necessary textbook for the class. We met up with the “smart French class” who also needed the textbook. One tram ride later and 20 euros gone from my wallet, I was blessed with a brand new textbook that I definitely did not need. I guess that’s just life as as student.

I’ve acquired the habit of taking random pictures just for the purpose of my blog. Here’s what the bookstore looked like.

After spending too much on drinks the night before, I vowed to make all my meals at home for the rest of the week to save money. This idea immediately went out the window after one of my friends recommended going to Batman Kebab. I was super in the mood for a French taco and couldn’t say no. Also, I’ve described French tacos too many times in my blogs so far, so just look at my previous posts if you are confused.

I ordered a classic taco, featuring steak, fries, and everything good. Dylan, Katie, Harry, Jonathon, Nick and I all took our food to the BU office to eat and get some homework done.

Just look at this beautiful thing.

I took advantage of being at the office to play the guitar that lives there. I have a feeling this may become a usual thing. I’m tempted to buy a guitar for my house, but I feel like Anne-Marie would complain about the noise. The guitar at the office works for now. I must have been playing too enthusiastically because Celine asked if I could refrain from whistling and singing. I had to settle for just finger picking songs.

With the help of my classmates, I was able to get all of my circuits and French homework done. After hanging out for a bit, I headed home to go to the gym.

I put on my athletic clothes as usual, but packed a towel and body wash in anticipation of using the gym showers.

On the way to the gym I saw this Dominos ad featuring raclette pizza. I found this very interesting.

Today at the gym, I did shoulders and biceps. This was followed by the usual ab workout. Despite falling on my shoulder so many times while skiing, I finally was feeling 100% today. After finishing, I headed to the locker room to have a magical experience known as the overhead shower. Granted the bathroom was somewhat skeevy, but not having to sit while I bathed was very nice. Though upon later reflection, I am starting to realize that sitting down in the shower is not the worst thing ever.

I headed home in a good mood, though slightly dreading my microwavable meal.

It is now time for the microwavable meal review portion of my blog. Today’s subject: Monoprix Filet Mignon and Mashed Potatoes. After having the disgusting sausage and mashed potatoes from the same brand, I was a little nervous for this one. To prevent this possible disgust, I took extra precautions when preparing my meal today. I not only made sure it was properly heated for once, but took it out of the microwave halfway through to mix the contents. This led to the mashed potatoes tasting much better than the previous time.

I decided to make my meal even better by including the stereotypical French baguette and white wine. In order to make sure my wine was properly chilled, I temporarily out it outside on my window sill. It worked like a charm.

Here is my beautiful dinner.

I’d rate this meal a 5/10, but the wine and bread definitely bumped it up a 6. I will use the strategy in the future for sure.

After my late dinner, I was very exhausted. I contribute this to the combination of going to the gym and my two glasses of wine. I typed up my blog for the day, and decided to call it a night.

I don’t usually do this, but I want to give shoutouts to some people for no particular reasons.

Shoutout to: Dylan, my aunt Joanne, Ivy, Jared , Mats, my whole family, and all my loyal readers (if you even exist).
