Seven and a half hours of class on Friday just plain sucks, but it sucks a little less when your 8 AM is cancelled. I enjoyed an extra hour and a half of sleep this morning, and headed to school to start my day.
I had an odd situation happen on the tram the past two days. I didn’t mention it in my blog yesterday because it did not seem as significant. Yesterday and today, an elderly woman fell on the train and I caught her (with the help of some others). While I was glad to help these two ladies, what are the chances that this would happen twice within twelve hours for me. My presence must cause elderly people to fall on the tram or something. Either way, I was glad no one got hurt.
My first class of the day was three hours of French culture. I started the class by presenting my American and French news article. I think the professor really enjoyed my analysis and choice of articles. I am also really enjoy the subject matter of the class and anthropology in general. Although, this class is making me realize how patriotic I am. Any time the professor says anything negative about America I have to hold in some rage. Even with a terrible president, I can’t help but be proud of my country and naturally defend it. These type of discussions are nonetheless helpful for me becoming a more worldly person.
Even though I like the class, three hours does drag on. We fortunately are given a short break in the middle of the class, but as a result, we have to stay fifteen minutes longer. This cuts my 40 minute break before physics into a 25 minute one. I used this break during class to sprint the food area on campus. I was really in the mood for lasagna.
I got my lasagna and got back to class just in time. I was so hungry that I didn’t take any pictures, but you can take my word for it, that lasagna was damn good. I now understand why Garfield has such an obsession with it.
After class ended, I used my short break to watch the Olympic opening ceremony with Dylan and Katie. Unfortunately, we could could only find streams of it in French. It ended up not being too bad because the Olympic announcers are usually annoying anyway.
Physics wasn’t terrible today. We got our quizzes back and most of us did not do great. I did alright, but definitely need to study more for the next one. I really made the effort to ask questions when I was confused today.
Differential equations was as slow as ever, and naturally, half the class was missing. As much as I didn’t want to be there, I pay way too much money to not feel guilty about skipping class. An hour and a half later, I was heading home.
Since I was staying in Grenoble this weekend, I skipped the gym today and planned to go tomorrow. I celebrated this decision by eating an unhealthy amount of baguette and cheese and putting away my laundry. Today I have discovered the one benefit of hang drying all my clothes. It makes my entire room smell like clean laundry, which is a fantastic scent.
Feeling lazy, I lied in bed and watched two episodes of the Sopranos. Afterwards, I facetimed my friend Kyle for a while.

After we finished talking, I ate one of my premade salads for dinner. This was good as usual. Also for the sake of my blog’s integrity, I am only going to include meal pictures from now if they are unique or interesting. I eat the same premade salad almost every day, so I figured I would spare my viewers. I will post a picture if a meal is really bad though, the microwavable meal review section isn’t going anywhere.
After some contemplation, I decided to stay in tonight and get some rest. I had finished the first season of the Sopranos, which I downloaded before coming to France. At home, I usually watch it on HBO or Amazon Prime, but HBO go is blocked outside the US and French Amazon doesn’t have the show. I ended up buying a monthly VPN, which tricks your computer and web browser into thinking it’s in a different part of the world. Amazon Prime still didn’t work with the VPN, but I got HBO Go to work by setting my location to the US East Coast. It’s all about the small victories.
I watched an episode and went to bed.
