Sluggish, Lazy, Stupid and Unconcerned-Day 33-February 11th, 2018

Today will be easy to write about because I didn’t have any plans to leave the house. I started my day off late and slept until about 11 AM. I woke up and went downstairs to eat my usual breakfast of cornflakes, coffee and a brioche.

After eating, I watched an episode of the Sopranos. I was about to watch a second episode, but I wanted to see what Olympic events were on. I was disappointed I didn’t get to see the US win gold in the slope style snowboarding, but it was a 2 AM for me so I didn’t feel too bad. My goal for today was to watch the US win a medal in something while it was being broadcasted live.

This led to me watching men’s luge for two hours. It was honestly super entertaining and by the end I felt like I had a decent understanding of the sport. One German athlete had won gold the past two Olympics and was set to win a third today. He was about to win gold, but in his final run he hit the side of the track. This put some Austrian in first and the US in second. It was a thrilling watch.

After the event ended, I went downstairs to grab my lunch which was a microwavable lasagna.

This was a terrible idea.

Upon opening the lasagna I could immediately tell this would not be a fun ride. After eating some really good lasagna during the week, I had tricked myself into thinking this would taste good too. I should have realized this when the box said to cook it for six whole minutes in the microwave. Anything longer than two minutes in the microwave practically melts the food.

My lasagna.

Yeah somehow I ate this entire thing. If I drop dead randomly, you’ll know why. I give it a 2/10. Do not buy or eat at all costs.

After resisting the urge to vomit, I spent some time practicing my French. Vocabulary is definitely a weakness of mine and to my luck, there was a French vocabulary book in my room with 30 chapters. I made a plan to do two chapters a night for the next two weeks. My method is to highlight the relevant words in each chapter, then make a quizlet for them. The quizlet app is really good for memorizing things quickly. I used it tonight for two chapters of the book.

I ended up watching another episode of the Sopranos and relaxed for a bit. Before I knew it, it was 8 o’ clock and time for another microwavable meal. Oh boy, here we go again.

Tonight’s selection was pasta bolognese. I had a different brand of pasta bolognese that wasn’t bad the other day, so hopefully this one would be alright.

My lovely pasta.

The pasta was okay and not nearly as bad as the lasagna, still pretty mediocre overall. I give it a 5.5/10. This crappy dinner became a bit more pleasant due to Anne-Marie.  I went downstairs to ask for a fork, and A-M asked if I wanted an apple for dessert. This seemed random, and not very dessert like, but I said yes anyway. She said she would bring it up in a bit.

A-M came up with the apple in slicew and covered in a brown sugary sauce with caramel. Imagine the inside part of apple pie without the crust. It was pretty good and definitely was a highlight of my meal.

About twenty minutes after dinner, I felt a weird sensation that I attribute to only eating microwave meals today. My heart rate increased and I felt out of breath. This was not fun and I’m definitely going to avoid having more than one microwavable meal in day in the future. More salads for me. I drank some water and lied down, making me feel much better.

Shortly after, I facetimed my whole family in New Jersey, minus my brother of course. The other Andrew, Julia’s new boyfriend, was there and fortunately I took off my neck pillow before saying hi to him.

After a nice talk with my family, I said goodbye and went to type up this blog. And well, here we are now. I am going to make a bold prediction for the rest of my night and we can see if it ends up being true tomorrow.

I watch an episode of the Sopranos and go to bed.
