Lazy Sunday-Day 54-March 4th, 2018

I didn’t bother setting an alarm last night and woke up around 11:30 today. Whoops. It didn’t matter too much because I literally had nothing planned for today. I threw on some clothes and went downstairs to have my late breakfast.

Anne-Marie was cooking and accidentally touched a hot pot. She kept yelling “merde” which means “shit” in French. I thought this was hilarious because A-M is such a sweet old lady and I did not expect her to curse. Maybe she just assumed I wouldn’t understand.

After breakfast, it was time to get to work. I had multiple Sopranos episodes to watch today and didn’t want to fall behind. The next couple hours were spent lying on my bed and watching TV on my laptop.

I also did a ton of research for my next break trip. I am pretty set on going to Sicily by myself, I just need to work out all the details.

A bit later I was hungry, so I made myself a sandwich for lunch. I have done this enough times that I will no longer be including sandwich pictures for the time being. After eating, I lounged around again for a few hours.

Later I went to grab a premade salad for dinner, and Anne-Marie started talking to me. It was her son Jerome’s  birthday today and they were having a nice dinner. She invited me to eat with them. I couldn’t say no to a home-cooked meal, and was excited for the prospects.

About 45 minutes later, the dinner bell rang. As expected, we were eating in the dining room and not the kitchen. Everyone was there including Jerome, his wife, Jessica and Fabrice. The meal consisted of couscous, sausage, chicken and vegetables. I mixed all of them together and they tasted pretty good. Anne-Marie asked if I wanted more to eat and I made the mistake of saying yes. I was expecting just a small portion, but she filled my entire plate with even more food.

It’s pretty insulting in France not to finish your food, so I took a deep breath and dug in. It was tough, but it was good. I barely had room for dessert, but the nutella cake roll and bananas were too tempting. After dinner, I was stuffed to the brim with food. So much for just a salad for dinner.

The rest of my night was pretty typical. I facetimed with my parents who were with my Aunt Joanne and Uncle Larry. My Aunt had been to Sicily before, and had many good tips to give me.

After talking to them, I spent some time writing my blog and then called it a night.

I may have not left the house today, but everyone needs a lazy Sunday once in a while.
