Differential Equations, Pasta Persuasion-Day 62-March 12, 2018

It felt amazing to finally get some decent sleep. Even with my differential equations exam today, I was feeling good. As usual, I gave myself a lot of extra time to get ready today.

Jessica happened to be eating breakfast at the same time as me this morning. We talked for a bit about both our trips this past weekend. I had gone to Amsterdam obviously, and she had gone to Marseille. I definitely need to take a trip down there at some point.

After eating, I spent about fifteen minutes reviewing some of my notes for math. Soon it was time to head out and I took an early tram to class.

I got to class about 15 minutes early and compared my “cheat sheet” with some other people’s. We were allowed to have one page worth of notes for the exam and this was the “cheat sheet”. I quickly added an example problem from my friends that later proved useful.

The exam was pretty tough, but I felt confident with the attempt I made. A lot of people were really freaking out about how hard it was, so I felt better about my own work. The grading system is much different here anyway and I know Celine is pretty fair when converting our grades at the end. It would probably look bad for the program if everyone came home with C’s and D’s.

After class, I headed to the BU Office with Nick to pick up our food stipends. While I was there, I also had a brief meeting with Celine. She wanted to meet with all of us one-on-one and discuss how we liked study abroad so far. I told her I was having a great time and really liked Grenoble.

After this, Nick and I went to La Natation for lunch with our newly acquired cash. This definitely has become a Monday routine for me and I’m glad to share it with others. Despite having pasta carbonara two days ago, I had to get it again today.

Delicious as always

I headed back home after this to relax. Since it was midterms week, I didn’t have any of my normal lectures for physics, diff. Eq, or circuits. This meant no more classes today and none tomorrow.

When I got home, I lounged around for a bit and watched an episode of the Sopranos. I also booked my bus tickets to go to Venice for Easter with Harry and Nick. It should be fun because Harry is planning to come to Easter mass with us on the Sunday, then Nick and I are going to a Passover meal with him the next day. It will be interesting to explore these other customs in a new city.

While relaxing at home today, I talked to my friend Ivy on the phone for about an hour . After seeing so many of my friends in person last weekend, it’s nice to catch up with the ones I couldn’t.

I headed to the gym afterwards for leg day. By chance, Nick also happened to be there, which was a nice surprise. I always enjoy running into friends at the gym. I absolutely destroyed my legs today and left feeling extremely sore. The weather is getting nice enough too that I’ve started walking to the gym in shorts.

Once I left the gym, I headed to the super market. I’m trying to mix things up this week, so I bought risotto, a box of pasta and shredded cheese. This week’s meals would be very experimental.

I also saw this inspirational graffiti which translates to “the sun will rise again tomorrow”

I took a much needed shower when I got home and prepared to cook. Today’s dinner was microwave Mac and cheese and not a pre-made one. A little part of me doubted I could cook pasta in the microwave, but the Internet never lies.

I poured my tiny noodles into a mug with some water and put it in the microwave for three minutes. I took it out, put an unhealthy amount of cheese, then put it back in the microwave.

Voila! Mac and cheese.

I was actually super impressed with how this came out, adding chives was definitely a good idea

Just kidding, here’s the real one.

The online recipe called for milk, salt and pepper, but I made do without them. It wasn’t anything amazing, but tasted okay and was filling. I still have a bunch of pasta and cheese left, so I’ll be making this one again later. Next time I’ll use a bigger container and add milk. Stay tuned folks.

After dinner, I relaxed and planned to type up my blog. I went to turn on my laptop and realized that it randomly decided to stop working. It doesn’t show any lights, make any noise, or show any signs of life. I messed around with it for a good half hour and had no luck. This is weird because it was working fine a few hours ago and it was just sitting on my bed.

This was incredibly annoying and I’m praying it will spontaneously start working again tomorrow. For now, I’m forced to type up this blog post on my phone.

Since my laptop isn’t working, I really don’t have anything better to do than sleep.

And at least if my laptop is broken, the pain of getting it fixed will make for a good blog post.
