After a late night yesterday, I slept in as late as possible today. That may have meant 8:30 AM, but I was grateful because I used to have 8 AM circuits lectures every Friday until this week. My first class of the day was French culture at 9:45 AM.
I really had to rush this morning and barely had time to finish my breakfast. I didn’t miss the bus at least.
French culture class may have been three hours, but it went by pretty quickly. I really like the new culture professor and she does fun activities and discussions with us. Though I must admit, there is some irony that we are taking a French culture class taught by an American. We got to do a fun activity today where we were put into groups of two, and had to interview a French student on campus. We had to ask what they thought about different American ideas, stereotypes, and beliefs. I was partnered with Sara and we prepared some questions about American films, style of dress, and going out.
This activity was fun because it was very spur of the moment. Sara and I saw two people who we later referred to as “French stoners” and asked to the interview them. They said yes, but it probably was because it was too awkward to say no. The interview went really well and I learned a lot.
The most interesting part was when I asked them for their thoughts on American films. The first example the girl talked about was American Sniper and she said she felt like some American films placed too much emphasis on the US being a hero. It was interesting to hear this view point.
When we got back to class, we all shared what we learned in the interviews and discussed. I thought this was a super cool way to learn about cultural differences.
After culture class, I had three hours of physics and math to get through. I really made an effort to pay attention in nuclear physics today with Professor Francois. There was some related material to quantum mechanics, so it was cool to link up ideas from our two physics classes.
Differential equations on the other hand, felt really long and tested my attention span. Thankfully, our professor let us out fifteen minutes early. I headed home, changed my clothes, then went to meet Nick at the gym.
Today was shoulders and biceps day. Nick was doing it as well, so it was nice to have someone to chat with between sets. I finished with abs and pushups, then headed home.
After I showered, I was starving and made myself dinner. Today was my sixth and final attempt at mac and cheese. It has been a good run, but frankly I am sick of mac and cheese.
Since this will be my last mac and cheese for while, I want to dedicate this part of my blog to the six attempts.
MAC AND CHEESE: A BATTLE BETWEEN LOVE AND INDULGENCES
ATTEMPT 1:
This legit was just cheese, water and pasta. Tasted like nothing and the pasta was not well cooked in the microwave. Despite this, my first attempt will always hold a special place in my heart.

ATTEMPT 2:
Why did I think adding a soup packet to my mac and cheese would help?? Cheese also got super gross and clumpy, time for an upgrade. At least I had a proper bowl this time.

ATTEMPT 3:
Real chefs make mac and cheese sauce from scratch. I bought a ton of ingredients and labored over this sauce. It ended up being really bland and took way too much effort. I know own a bag of flour that I will never use again. Good thinking Will! At least salt and pepper is now part of my cooking arsenal.

ATTEMPT 4:
This attempt was courtesy of the kitchen heist. I was able to cook all my pasta on the stove and saved most of it. This was pasta was cooked well and one of my best attempts. I added too much milk to it, but I had a fancy bowl now.

ATTEMPT 5:
I wanted to be thrifty and use some of my old emmental cheese rather than the cheese mix. This was a stupid idea because it all clumped together once again. Amateur mistake.

ATTEMPT 6:
This was another great attempt and I added an insane amount of cheese since I wanted to finish the bag. It was good, but I added more pasta than usual and was struggling to finish it.

Good bye crappy microwave mac and cheese, you had a good run.
After dinner, I spent a few hours typing up this blog post and the one before it. I am currently debating staying up for the Villanova sweet sixteen game. Tune in to tomorrow’s blog post to find out if I do.
My sisters are coming to Grenoble tomorrow and safe to say I am very excited!
