Arc-En-Ciel -Day 78-March 28th, 2018

Once again, my first class today was at 1:30. This meant extra sleep and a relaxed morning. I woke up around 9:30 and did my usual routine of not getting up until 10:00. I was in no rush this morning. Once I did get up, I headed downstairs. I was particularly excited for breakfast this morning because I had finished the box of cornflakes yesterday. This meant there would be a new cereal and I was crossing my fingers for a box of Frosties.

Well breakfast this morning was a disappointment because I only discovered a new box of cornflakes. This was particularly upsetting because this was the third box of corn flakes in a row.  I am starting to think I may never see Frosties again.

The rest of my morning was a bit less upsetting. I watched an episode of Netflix and made myself a nutella and banana sandwich for lunch. Today I put on more nutella and thicker banana slices, which greatly improved the sandwich. Even though I only ate lunch and hour and half after breakfast, it was still a solid one. I headed to school afterwards.

French class today was great. Not to be too narcissistic, but I truly felt like a French all-star today. I missed the class last week where everyone learned passe compose, the basic past tense in French. Missing class was not an issue at all for me,  since I had taught myself this tense one of my first weeks here. We did an activity in class where everyone took turns describing the BU group trip to Arles this past weekend using this new tense.

I didn’t go on this trip, so I was given a different task. After every few people gave their descriptions of the trip, I had to ask questions about it and attempt to start a dialogue. This was a nice challenge for me and I appreciated our professor giving me this harder role. I also really impressed the class by randomly knowing the French word for rainbow, arc-en-ciel. I had learned this the other day while studying different weather vocabulary.

Circuits tutorial afterwards was not that bad either. Despite a lot of complex algebra, I felt pretty good about all the practice problems. The problems were related to the lab I am doing tomorrow, so I hope this success translates to it. Before I knew it, class was over and I was heading home.

On the tram home today, the TAG officials did another bust on the tram. This is when they stop the tram and check everyone’s cards to make sure they paid. I have noticed that they only do these on trains heading to and from the university campus. I didn’t see anyone get fined, so I must have been in a tram car with people of higher integrity.

When I got home, I heard a loud noise coming from inside the gate. Upon opening it, I saw a man cutting limbs off a tree in the yard with a chainsaw while Andre watched. I thought to myself, “Wow this could be a good featured photo for my blog”. Naturally, I took a picture.

Afterwards I changed and headed to the gym. I did chest day today, followed by an ab workout. It was a good session and I returned to my house.

Right before I was about to unlock the gate to my house, some old man started talking to me in French. I’m pretty sure he asked me if I was the brother of someone who lived in the house. I explained I was an American student staying with the family. He understood and gave me some newspaper to bring inside.

I gave the newspaper to Anne-Marie once inside and explained that some man gave this to me. She laughed and told me that it was her brother. I guess that makes more sense, but I am still pretty confused.

I forgot to mention this in previous blog posts, but until yesterday there was a random Japanese lady staying in the house the past week. I kept running into her around the house and she would say something in Japanese. Twice she gave me a Japanese candy. I was extremely confused as to who she was and why she was staying in the house. I finally asked at dinner yesterday since she had left. Anne-Marie explained that she was a friend of their son Fabrice. Mystery solved.

I showered and then ate a salad for dinner. The realization then occurred to me that I bought way too much food for this week. I totally forgot that I was leaving Friday morning for my weekend trip. Fortunately, I could save my leftover rice for next week. I would have to eat the rest of my bananas in the next day though or they will go bad. I might make a bunch of sandwiches for the long bus ride to Venice as well.

The next thirty minutes of my evening was spent on a circuits prelab, which was not too difficult. I typed up this blog afterwards and wrapped up the night with an episode of the Sopranos.
