Another Long Ass Lab-Day 86-April 5th, 2018

I woke up today already dreading my circuits lab today. One step at a time I guess. I got up around 8 and ate breakfast in the usual fashion. After eating, I made my lunch for today which consisted of a speculoos and jelly sandwich, an apple, and oreos. I put it all in a tupperware container to bring to school. I still had a little less than an hour before I needed to leave, so I watched an episode of White Collar on my laptop.

My commute to class was typical and I had French class at 11:30. I actually managed to leave the house at the right time for once. We did a lot in French class today, including an activity where we had to describe a room in groups. We would read the description of the room and someone had to draw the room we were describing on the white board. I wanted to spice up our description, so I added a line saying that there was a man crying in the middle of the room. People thought this was pretty funny.

There was a brief break between French and circuits lab, so I went to the cafeteria with Nick and Harry for lunch. My speculoos and jelly sandwich tasted pretty good, but doesn’t really compare to the classic PB&J. I will see how I feel about the speculoos after having them for lunch everyday until Sunday.

It was now time for circuits lab. I went in hoping this one wouldn’t take as long as last time. Nope. I was completely wrong. I was there from 1:30-7:00. This entire lab was about resonance and involved a lot of tedious data collecting via the oscilloscope. This data then had to be graphed, which took even more time. There isn’t even a point to me describing the lab more because I am frankly sick of thinking about it.

Vesko and I were the very last group to finish, though I’m pretty sure a lot of the groups made this one mistake in their lab which made a section go by more quickly. There are some silver linings to this lab taking so long. Our final for circuits is redoing one of the labs, but with different values. I am almost positive it will be this lab.

Last week, my group was taking a while to finish and the professor told us to skip a section since this lab wouldn’t be the final. He didn’t tell us to skip anything today and stayed for a while after the lab finished to make sure we understood everything. Even if he was being an asshole to me last week, I was appreciative of his help today. Since I was sure this could be the lab exam, Vesko and I made sure we did everything the right way, even if it took longer. I also took pictures of all our work and the professor’s drawings to reference later. If this ends up being the exam, I will be in the clear.

At least I can always look forward to this view on the way home

Lab went late enough today that I not only missed going to the gym, but was also a bit late to dinner. Everyone was sitting at the table when I came in. I apologized for being late and explained my lab was very long. I quickly dropped my stuff off upstairs and returned to the kitchen. For an appetizer tonight, we had quiche, salad, and sliced sausage. The main meal consisted of a fried chicken cutlet, ramen, and mushrooms. A weird combination, but not a bad one. The meal was finished with bread and cheese, then dessert in standard fashion. Part of the dessert was this chocoalte truffle that had an extremely intense and rich flavor. Anne-Marie told us it was made with coffee and chartreuse, which is a very strong liqueur. I didn’t stick around too long after dinner since I was pretty tired.

After reading about my brother’s trip to Japan that he is on right now, I was inspired to do some more planning for my trip to Sicily. I really hadn’t planned any activities to do yet. I spent a good hour and a half reading the Lonely Planet southern Italy travel book and taking notes. I also found a lot of good places to visit and eat on Trip Advisor.

Once I was content with my planning, I wrote this blog post and called it a night. My 5.5 hr lab really exhausted me today.
