One Lecture Too Many-Day 90- April 9th, 2018

I really need to invest more time in my weekend sleep because I was still really tired when I got up at 8:00 AM this morning. After forcing myself to get out of bed, I did have one positive surprise waiting for me. When I went to go eat breakfast downstairs, I noticed a brand new box of Frosties on the table. My prayers had been answered and I was blessed with the great taste of Frosted Flakes. Not to hate on corn flakes, but a month of them for breakfast everyday is a bit much.

I made my lunch in typical fashion after eating breakfast. Once I was all packed for school, I still had some time to kill. I spent about fifteen minutes relaxing for what would be a very long day. Mondays already suck due to my three lectures, but today I had a fourth one. Since we missed a circuits lecture due to Easter Monday, we had a second hour and a half circuits lecture added after our first one today. This meant I had class from 10-5 today.

Differential equations was my first class of the day and not too terrible. I was able to follow everything we were learning pretty well. We had an awkward forty minute break afterwards, so I just hung out in an empty classroom with Harry and Nick.

Circuits lecture was a lot rougher. I don’t know if it’s related to my head trauma, but I started to get a bad headache during lecture which made it hard to pay attention. Fortunately, I had already learned a lot of today’s material from my six hours working on a circuits lab last week. I zoned out of the lecture every once and a while to give myself a quick mental break. I took an Advil too which helped a lot.

We had a thirty minute break for lunch before our second circuits lecture. I just hung around with my classmates and ate my packed lunch. Everyone was talking about their travel plans for our next week off. A few people were going to Venice and asked me for some recommendations which I was happy to give.

The second half of circuits was not great. My headache felt a lot better, but my attention span was not thriving towards the end. We were learning about filters which are an important part of signal processing. An example of this is how your car radio filters out all the radio frequencies except the one you’re listening to. I know signal processing is an important concept in circuits because electrical engineers at BU have to take a whole course on it.

Another hour and a half later, I was done with circuits and only had one class left to get through for the day, physics. The bio kids were done for the day and made an effort to rub it in our faces. I don’t blame them to be honest.

We just doing tutorial problems in physics, so it was not too bad. The subject matter is pretty confusing, but I have become accustomed to the method of “write stuff down, figure it out later”. Even with this method, most of the practice problem made some sense. By the end of class, I was more than ready to go home for the day.

On the way back, I stopped at the BU office to pick up my food stipend and figure out how to get reimbursed for my doctor’s visit. I learned I had to do this online and I am sure this will be an annoying process.

I didn’t feel like putting much effort into dinner tonight, so I stopped to get a taco at Tacos Royale. I used to confidently say Tacos Royale was my favorite fast food place here, but I think Batman Kebeb has my heart now. Their tacos are significantly bigger which is very important in my books.

I ate my taco on the go while heading to the supermarket. I was feeling pretty uninspired and got same mix of groceries as the week before. I did buy a can of red beans though. I want to experiment with cooking them in the microwave and eating them with my rice and sausage. Keep on reading this blog to find out how this turns out.

While I was walking home, I realized I didn’t take any photos for my blog today. Here’s an impromptu mirror selfie

Considering my body and head are still not feeling 100%, I decided to skip the gym today. I used this added time to be very productive when I got home. I was able to cross off three or four items from my to do list which mainly involved homework and prep for a paper.

Once I was finished with that, I typed up this blog post. Time flew by and I was exhausted. I went to bed around 11 PM to make sure I was full of energy for tomorrow.
