Superheroes-Day 108-April 28th, 2018

Last night I laid in bed and listened to The Shining, thinking I would fall asleep quickly and turn it off. I ended up staying up close to 3 because I was on a really good part of the book. Due to this, I slept in later this morning.

I never let myself really sleep in past 10:30. This is partly wanting to feel productive and also I fear that if I sleep in too late, A-M would have eaten lunch. This would mean my breakfast stuff would probably be put away. Even if this is an irrational fear, it doesn’t hurt to get up earlier.

After my very eventful day yesterday, I knew today would be considerably more boring. After all,  I had a decent amount of work to get done. This mainly involved my final paper for French culture that I had not started yet. My first task to get done was yesterday’s blog. It was a long day and took a long time to write about.

By the time I finished that, it was nearly 1:00. Feeling hungry, I made myself lunch. Lunch was nothing special and just a pb&j, apple, and my chicken-flavored potato chips. I really love these chips a lot.

As much as I was dreading it, it was time to start my paper. I started off by organizing the responses I got to my interview questions. I got responses back from Greg and my friend from the gym, but not A-M. This is odd because she told me she had worked on them. Maybe this is just an issue with technology.

I also had to translate my interviews from French to English. Since I knew A-M’s English wasn’t good enough to accurately answer the questions, I put all the questions in both French and English. I additionally put a note saying for people to use their preferred language. Since every person I interviewed was French, they understandably answered the questions in their native language. Google Translate helped significantly with this.

Sometimes I get afraid that my semester in France has completely ruined my work ethic. This seems possible since I hardly ever have homework. To test this, I set a timer for two hours and told myself I would not stop working on the paper until the timer went off. I was successful and wrote about two-thirds of the entire paper without being distracted. I was going to write the rest, but I want to wait for A-M’s responses first. Satisfied with my work, I retired the paper for the day. I will finish it tomorrow.

After recently watching the new Spiderman and Black Panther, I have been really excited for the new Avengers movie. Some of my friends saw it earlier in the week, but I was busy that night. I was determined to see it tonight, even if that meant going alone. I bought a ticket for the 7:15 English viewing.

I relaxed for a bit and made myself dinner around 6:15. Tonight was rice, sausage and beans, a true delicacy of my tiny bed room. I ate a twix bar for dessert. After cleaning up everything, it was nearly time to leave.

I headed to the theater and was surprised to see how big the lines were. I had bought my ticket online so there was nothing to worry about it, though the theater looked packed based off the available seats online. I randomly ran into my friend Sebastian going to the same movie, but he was sitting in a different section.

The movie was phenomenal and I really enjoyed it. Despite missing out on a decent number of the Marvel movies before this, everything made sense and it was cool to see all the crossovers. I still can remember seeing the first Avengers in theaters back in 2012.

I headed home after the movie and went to plug in my head phones. I was disappointed to learn that the squishy part (the one that goes in your ear) had fallen off and was missing. I don’t have a replacement, so these headphones will be out of commission until I order replacements.

It was a short walk, so the silence was not bad. When I got back, I typed up this blog post before getting ready to bed. I went to sleep and called it a night.
