After a day off, it was time to get back to the daily grind. Today would be particularly rough, I only had one class at 3:15. As difficult as it was, I forced myself out of bed this morning around 10:30. Early bird gets the worm I guess.
I had made plans last night with Nick to go to La Natation for lunch. I haven’t ate there in about two weeks. As I discussed previously, it was hard to return to France after being in the United States for a few days. I kid you not, the pasta carbonara at La Natation was one of the few reasons I wanted to come back. I may have eaten it five times before, but today I was just as excited.
As you may know, the portion size for the pasta is insane and I often struggle to finish it. Knowing I’d be eating lunch only two hours after waking up, I opted to save some room for the pasta. This meant having a very light breakfast of just my pastry and coffee. I didn’t want any of my pasta to go to waste because I was “full”.
After my light breakfast, I facetimed my brother for over an hour. This is needed occasionally to catch each other up on funny stories, make stupid noises and impressions, among many other asinine activities. I eventually had to cut him off so I could meet Nick for lunch. Nick conveniently lives between the restaurant and me, so I met him outside his apartment.
La Nat’ was especially crowded and the owners immediately recognized us. We must have some good standing with them now, because they removed the “reserved” sign from our table before sitting down. Nick got the plat du jour and I got the pasta carbonara.
I have posted an identical picture to this many times, but beautiful pasta deserves proper recognition.

Seriously, this stuff is better than the three pasta carbonaras I tried in Italy. Nick and I enjoyed a nice lunch and told me about his trip to Belgium the past couple days. After eating, I headed to the supermarket.
I got my usual salads, apples, and rice and sausage supplies, plus a new item: hot sauce. This definitely was a purchase I should have made months ago, but I only saw Tabasco on the shelf for the first time today. I got one of tinier bottles.
I always forget my reusable shopping bag, and end up paying for the paper brown bags ate the supermarket. I think part of me doesn’t like to use my reusable bag because it is a Monoprix one, the competitor of my grocery store. I asked for a bag today and as a result of something lost in translation, I now am the proud new owner of new Spar Supermarche reusable shopping bag. I did not ask for this and definitely do not have the responsibility to have two large reusable shopping bags. I can’t even remember to ever bring the one I already owned. If this is what it means to be an adult, I don’t think I am ready yet.
After returning home and putting away my groceries, I had forty five minutes before I needed to leave. I listened to the Shining during this. I know I said I want to listen to it only at night, but it was way too spooky for me last night and I gave up on that goal. I am really close to finishing it.
Fortunately when I arrived at school today, the building was not blockaded. The security guards were still at all the entrances though. Circuit tutorial went pretty well and I wish I knew this information before doing my last circuits lab. It would have been very helpful. I also learned that I have one more circuits tutorial next Wednesday. This was supposed to be the last one, but since tutorial was cancelled last week we needed one more. Unfortunately I will not be making it to this tutorial and will be attending wine tastings in Italy instead.
After class I headed home and changed to go to the gym. It had been a while, but I had successfully returned to Moana. Today was leg day and a brutal one. It was one of those gym days where you feel like you had your entire life force drained from you. I guess that means I had a good workout at least. I headed home, excited about my new hot sauce.
I took a much needed shower and made dinner. Despite my excitement, I was feeling lazy and just made a salad sans hot sauce. I also bought a baguette and cheese today, which complimented my salad nicely.
After dinner I worked on last physics lab report which proved to be very tedious and annoying. Despite finally getting the data from Greg today, I barely remembered the lab and had trouble writing about it. Nonetheless, I finished it and turned it in.
I typed up this blog post after dinner and watched another John Mulaney comedy special. I also stayed up a bit later to finish The Shining. Tomorrow is another day without class, so I didn’t mind staying up a little later.
