A Stroll in the Park-Day 116-May 6th, 2018

Anne Marie and Andre had told me yesterday that they would be hiking most of the day on Sunday. They had invited me, but a whole day seemed like much and I wanted to hang out with my friends today. Knowing I could eat breakfast whenever today, I slept in super late.

To be fair, this was only to 11 AM, but it felt really late for me. I took my time getting out of bed and ate right away. I don’t know if Jessica went hiking with them, but she must have because I was home alone.

When I was out with my friends last night, I told them they should come over my house tomorrow for lunch. My host parents are rarely away, so I wanted to take advantage of this opportunity. I told Jonathan and Harry to come over around 2 PM.

Jonathan got here first and I gave him the grand tour. To my surprise, he was pretty impressed with my house and neighborhood. I guess having African lady sheets, an empty swimming pool, and turtles can seem pretty appealing. After finishing lunch, we went to sit in the terrace in my backyard. It was over eighty degrees today and beautiful out. I brought my speaker outside with us and we relaxed until Harry got there.

We hung out at my house for a while, but eventually decided to head to the park. I couldn’t find the soccer ball from the other day, but I found some random kids ball for us to use. On the way to the park, we stopped by to pick up some cold brews to have.

We failed to remember that all the stores are closed on Sunday, but we found a tiny gas station store that was open. This meant our brews ended up being lukewarm rather than cold.

The parked was filled with life, just like it was the other day when we were here. I still get amazed how many people go to the park to hang out in Grenoble. We found a nice shady spot and plopped down to enjoy our beers. I turned on my speaker and we tossed the ball around for a bit.

We hung out at the park for an hour and half, but eventually got bored. We wanted to try something else. We spontaneously decided to ride the tram all the way to the end of the E line. It goes really far out the city and none of us had never been there before.

After heading to the nearest tram station, we got onto the C to go to a transfer stop. While on the tram, we all made the realization that we were suddenly tired and very hungry. Our goal to ride the tram all the way to the end went out the window, and we headed to this taco place we had heard good things about.

Yes there are tons of taco places in Grenoble, but this one was special. You could get chicken nuggets put into your taco as the meat option. I had heard this in legends, but did not think it was possible for a mortal man. I had to try it.

I put in my order and ten minutes later our tacos were ready. We grabbed a table outside to eat them. My taco was delicious, though kebab meat just might still be the best. This taco was huge and I am ashamed to say that I could not finish it.

Jonathan and Harry had similar thoughts, and we all agreed that a food coma would be needed. We parted ways and I headed home. My host family was back when I arrived; Jerome and Fabrice were there too. I took a nice hour nap after getting back.

When I awoke from my nap, I took a shower and did my laundry. I watched a little bit of TV and typed up this blog. My taco was so filling that I ended up skipping dinner. To be fair, the taco was really just an early dinner.

I have my last class of the semester tomorrow morning, so I want to go to bed a little earlier tonight.
