Sandwich Artistry-Day 34-February 12th, 2018

No matter how much sleep you get the night before, waking up for class on Monday mornings always sucks. Or at least that’s my opinion.

Also if you’re reading my blog posts in chronological order, my prediction from last night was true.

One of the best parts (even on Mondays) of the six hour time difference is waking up to a bunch of notifications. Nothing makes me feel more popular than waking up to six snapchats, 13 texts and 53 groupme messages. Sorry if I am too humble at times.

This morning was like any other: get dressed, eat breakfast, brush my teeth, pack my bag, and head out the door. My first class of the day was differential equations. In the usual fashion, our professor spent pretty much the whole class doing the proof out for differential equations related to oscillatory motion. Absolutely fascinating.

Just kidding.

We have a nice two and a half hour break before circuits so I went with some others to the BU office to pick up our sweet, sweet food stipend for the week. Going from zero to a hundred and twenty euros in your pocket is a great feeling. In my new tradition from the past two weeks, I went to La Natation for a 9 euro lunch after getting my money.

This time, I brought five others with me. Harry, Elizabeth, Aleks, Ryan, and Sydney joined me for lunch. I hope the workers here recognize me because I have been slowly bringing all my friends to La Nat’ for lunch or drinks at night.

Despite my craving for pasta carbonara, the plate of the day was filet mignon for nine euros and I couldn’t pass it up.

My delicious lunch

You’re probably thinking the exact same thing I was, this is pork and not filet mignon lol. My friends and I were extremely confused, but it was pretty good so I couldn’t complain. Those balls on the right were like tater tots, but the inside was mashed potatoes. These were delicious as well. Overall, not a bad lunch.

Our food took longer than expected, so the six of us got to circuits class about ten minutes late. It wasn’t too big of a deal.

Three hours later, circuits and physics class were over. It was time to head home. On the way home, I went to the supermarket to pick up some meals. After my traumatizing experience last night with microwave meals, I was inspired to find other alternatives. I was also getting tired of my usual salads.

Yesterday my mom suggested sandwiches to me over facetime, so I took her idea. I bought a baguette, package of sliced chorizo, and some brie.

After getting home, I got changed and headed to the gym. Today was leg day and I didn’t feel like dying for once. I hit some high reps on the squat rack and was feeling great. After an ab set, I headed home in a great mood.

I showered and was starving by the time I got changed. It was sandwich time.

I assembled my supplies and was ready to dive into the field of sandwich artistry. My method was precise, but ever so simple. I cut the baguette and put the meat and cheese on it.

Voila! I had made a beautiful sandwich.

Isn’t she Lovely

My sandwich tasted great and I look forwarded to having another one for lunch tomorrow.

It’s funny how my meals at home have gone through different phases.

Phase 1: Microwavable Meals

“Wow I bet this pasta is really good because the picture on the box looks delicious!”

“Why get the five euro one if there’s a store brand one for two euros?”

I was a foolish boy then and have since learned. I had my slight relapse last night, but I’m not going back.

Phase 2: Pre-Made Salads

“I need to get as far away from the microwave as possible, geez these salads look pretty good!”

“A hard boiled egg, lettuce and vinegar soaked pasta, wow!”

“Oh shit it came with a cookie, this is just like lunchables!”

The salads were good, but every one I like is exactly the same and my balsamic vinager intake was at ridiculous levels.

Phase 3: Sandwiches

Fancy cheese + fancy meat + baguette = happy Will

I bet I will never grow old of this!

My prediction for the next phase is doing light cooking with the microwave and hot water heater. I can envision myself making a homemade microwave risotto and steaming fresh vegetables.

More realistically, I will probably get into a ramen phase next.

The rest of night was spent reviewing for my physics quiz, studying some French vocab, and writing this blog.

I am currently debating staying up to watch BU play in the Beanpot final tonight since I don’t have class until 1:30 tomorrow.

We will see what happens.

Goodnight folks!
